Contrary to what the name suggests, worms have nothing to do with ringworm infections. The name ringworm comes from the shape that most infections take, which is often somewhat circular. Scientists do not exactly know why this is so and also are quick to point out that not all ringworm infections are circular in shape. All infections will at some point have some slightly elevated, bumpy and irritated skin which will more than likely be a shade of red or dark pink. If you are in need of a treatment for ringworm, it is important to notice these symptoms early so that you can begin the treatment period as soon as possible.
